Mission
Statement
of
The American Catholic Church in the United States
The following text is the Mission Statement of
“The American Catholic Church in the United
States”
The
Mission of “The American Catholic Church in the United States” is to
respond to the command of Jesus the Christ – To Teach, Preach, and To
Sanctify. To Teach and Preach love among all people through the
Gospel, and to Sanctify through the Seven Sacraments.
The Mission to administer to
the People of God, through the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy,
which are:
The Corporal Works Of Mercy
Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Give shelter to the homeless
Visit the imprisoned
Care for the sick
Bury the dead
The Spiritual Works Of Mercy
Instruct the ignorant
Advise the perplexed
Comfort the unhappy
Bear wrongs patiently
Forgive all injuries
Pray for the living and the dead
Admonish the sinner
The
Mission to follow the example of its Patron Saint, St. Francis of
Assisi, in his prayer of peace:
Lord; make the people of this Church an
instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let us so love
Where there is injury, let us pardon
Where there is doubt, let us show faith
Where there is
despair, let us offer hope
Where there is darkness, let us bring light
And where there is sadness, let us bring joy.
We ask the Divine Master, to grant that we may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console others;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we will receive, it is in pardoning, that we
will be pardoned, and it is in dying that we will be born to eternal
life.
This is the Mission of “The American Catholic Church in the
United States”. Let its Bishops, Clergy, Seminarians, and
Parishioners uphold this Mission, and be true to it in all they do,
administering to the People of God. Amen.
We do now
and hereby establish this “The American Catholic Church in the United
States”,
this 23rd day of May, in the year of Our Lord, 1999, in the
Sate of Maryland and these United States of America.

Reverend Lawrence J. Harms, D. D.
