A Call To Prayer and to Reach Out

March 12, 2011

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

By now we all are aware of the devastation in Japan from the 8.9 earthquake and tsunami that struck on Friday the 11th of March.

As Bishop of the Diocese of St. Damien of Moloka'i, and on behalf of Presiding Archbishop Lawrence J. Harms, D.D. We are sending out a Call to Prayer for our brothers and sister of the region. We ask that you pray for their well being and to give them strength as they continue to search for those lost, those who have died, for those who were injured and those who survived this devastating event.

As is the staple for Lent we are to pray, give alms and fast. We urge you to do what you can in prayer and, if possible, give to a charity of your choice that can help those in need at this time of crisis. If you cannot give monetarily then give of your time in prayer for those in the region. It is through our prayers that we are all in communion through Christ and if we can help each other, then this event can be just a bit less of a burden for our brethren in Japan.

We in the ACCUS send out prayers to those in need in the region and will also offer special Masses as well.

May God Bless You All!

Lenten Peace,

Most Rev. William A. Johnson, D.D.

Bishop of the Diocese of St. Damien of Moloka'i
